Best Places To Visit in Chicago

Chicago offers something for every person who travels to and visit’s the Second City. Whether you are visiting Chicago looking for culture, entertainment, outdoor fun, or family friendly activities it can be found. The following places are some of the best of Chicago, and should be part of your trip to Chicago.

 

One of Chicago’s biggest attractions because of it’s widespread appeal to all ages is the Lincoln Park Zoo. Chicago’s free zoo is conveniently located in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, which is only a short bus ride away from downtown. Bring the entire family to stroll through a petting zoo, a big cat house and watch families of monkeys play around. Leave the zoo and explore the rest of Lincoln Park including a hidden water lily garden and a garden conservatory, all of which are free.

 

The heartbeat of Chicago, especially in the summer, is the lakefront and Navy Pier is where the action is. Navy Pier hosts year round events on its sidewalks and inside the convention center, as well as being home to all ages entertainment. The Children’s Museum of Chicago on the Pier provides hour of entertainment and learning for kids of all ages. During the summer months the entire Pier is lit up with fun all night and day. Take a spin on the giant Ferris wheel or head out onto the lake on one of the Pier’s many boat tours to wind down the day.

 

A trip to the largest indoor aquarium in the world is possible right in Chicago, at the John G. Shedd Aquarium. Underwater habitats from around the word wait to be explored and marveled at. The living reef and shark exhibit are one of a kind attractions where you can easily spend hours of your day. Head over to the Oceanarium for a dolphin show and a hands on tidal pool.

 

Millennium Park is one of the newest outdoor additions to Chicago, but also one of the most dynamic. The park brings so many opportunities for the public to explore art, culture, music and gardens in the city, in a single space. The year round park is open to families and tourists for free and there is always something to do. Winter brings ice skating on the Mile, summer brings symphony concerts under the stars and the best part is, it’s all free. Don’t forget to roam the rest of the park to visit the natural gardens and outdoor sculptures including the famous Cloud Gate.
